On the week leading up to King Charles’s Coronation, we hosted a handful of events and workshops to help celebrate our new King. The week started with a whole school assembly by Principal Rogers. The assembly was aimed to inform and educate our pupils about patriarchy and monarchy. In classes throughout the week, students were quizzed on what they have learnt in the whole school assembly. We also hosted ‘A Letter to the King’ workshop which gave students the opportunity to write a few words, welcoming King Charles to the throne. On Friday 19th 1May, our year 10 BTEC PE class were invited to attend a virtual meet and greet with Chelsea FC captain, César Azpilicueta and Fulham FC captain, Tim Ream. The session was created by Virtual Soccer Schools and Amazing People Schools to raise awareness on children’s mental health and wellbeing..

We are extremely proud to say that one of our ex-students, Liala Al-Terawi has been accepted into The University of Oxford to study an Intergrated master's degree in Biochemistry. One of our own, Megan Jolly took part in the Great British Wrestling Championships this weekend in a tough match against one of Britain's finest wrestlers. Megan won the Under 17s Gold medal by beating a tough competitor from Bolton who was five kilos heavier. The matches consisted of two-by-two minute rounds with a 30 second break between rounds. In late 2022, we hosted a Recycling Bank for Cash For Kids. Everyone who took part in the national recycling banks helped raise over £5,000 to help tackle child/family poverty in Greater Manchester. We are proud to be making a difference within our community.

Last Wednesday, students from five United Learning schools across Greater Manchester took part in an Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Faraday Challenge Day.

As part of the event, students from Salford City Academy – where the event was hosted – The Albion Academy, Irlam and Cadishead Academy, Manchester Academy and The Lowry Academy became real-life engineers for the day. Working in teams, they researched, designed and built solutions to real-world engineering problems.
