Safeguarding

As parents your main priority will be to make sure that your children are healthy, happy and safe.

This means more than just making sure they are physically safe but looking after their emotional and mental well-being. They need to know how to keep themselves safe when they are out, and to ensure they know all about online safety, on social networks, and when using their mobile phones.

The Albion Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its students.

As a school we aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children by:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment.
  • Preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development.
  • Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Worried about the behaviour of an adult who works with children?

If your concern is about the behaviour of an adult who works with children in a paid or voluntary capacity contact the designated safeguarding lead and/or the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for Salford on 0161 603 4350.

Safeguarding and Child Protection

Where there are concerns about a child’s welfare, the school will contact appropriate agencies, share information with them and work in partnership with them.

Concerns will be discussed with the family if it will not place the child at risk of significant harm. The child’s view will also be considered in deciding whether to inform the family in some circumstances, particularly where the child is sufficiently mature to make informed judgements. The interest of the child is paramount.

Protecting young people from extremism and radicalisation

The DfE has launched the Educate Against Hate website. The site brings together the best advice, support and resources available for parents, teachers and school leaders who want to learn how to protect young people from extremism and radicalisation, and is the result of successful collaboration between the Department for Education, the Home Office, the NSPCC, Internet Matters, Childnet, ParentZone, UK Internet Safety Centre, and the many other organisations who have contributed resources.
