Year 8 Students Explore University Life at Salford Campus Experience Day

On Tuesday 6 May, a group of enthusiastic Year 8 students took part in a full campus experience day at Salford University, gaining first‑hand insight into what higher education can offer. The visit formed a key part of our Careers SUCCESS Charter and reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to raising aspirations across all year groups.

Throughout the day, pupils engaged in a range of activities designed to broaden their understanding of future pathways. One highlight was the interactive ‘Million Pound Drop’ challenge, where students worked together to test their knowledge, debunk common myths about university, and build a clearer picture of the opportunities available after school.

Students also explored a variety of subject areas, toured the university’s facilities, and heard directly from current undergraduates about their courses, experiences, and life on campus. These conversations offered valuable, real‑world perspectives on what studying at university is really like.

The event not only supported students in developing their ambitions but also strengthened their confidence in navigating future educational choices. Experiences like this play an important role in helping young people make informed decisions about their next steps and imagine themselves thriving in new environments.
