The Citizenship curriculum at The Albion Academy follows the Edexcel GCSE specification and helps students understand what it means to be an active citizen in modern Britain.
Through the study of identity, diversity, and rights, students explore the UK’s political system, the law-making process, and the workings of the legal system, including how young people are treated within it. They also examine the UK’s role on the global stage and the influence of organisations such as the United Nations and NATO.
The course encourages students to think critically about democracy, justice, and participation, and to put these ideas into practice through a Citizenship Action project. Our aim is to nurture informed, responsible, and engaged young people who are ready to contribute positively to their communities and to society as a whole.
